 PearlyT. Photography

It's been a decade since I first began taking photographs for newspapers and news outlets and I am still drawn to and fascinated by light and darkness. Having to contemplate, frame and capture many difficult photographs of life, death and those that remain over the years, I now provide professional photography services to families and event organizers.

CHILD/ FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY: As a blessed mother to two beautiful, challenging little people, I love photographing children. I usually conduct an email interview before arranging photography sessions so I can understand the little one's loves and fears. I invite family pets, parents and grandparents and siblings to join in documenting all the growing the child has done this past season and hints of the wisdom to come. Some commonly requested session prices are listed below.

BIKE VALET/ EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY: My husband, Brian, is the founder of Spokes National, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals, families and communities by encouraging more people to ride bicycles. Each year, we park over 2,000 bicycles at events around the San Francisco Bay area and run Spokes Bike Lounge, our business in Berkeley.

Along with these works, I provide event photography covering everything from street fairs and summer camps to birthdays, engagements and weddings. I bring my journalistic background with me to every job and can be roped in to create photobooks and other projects that require writing and design. Prices vary according to requests.

PearlyT Photography donates 50 hours every year to the less privileged. If you are a small non-profit needing professional headshots/ product photography or a individual / family in-need, please drop me an email. Examples include headshots for interviews and fundraising photography.

If you would like to sponsor an organization doing work you support with photography, please also contact me.

Builders of the world

Growing up in Singapore, a first-world country surrounded by third-world countries, I grew up surrounded by people who had come from neighboring countries to try and make a living.

Everyone who has visited or heard of Singapore has heard of its shiny buildings that allow us to play host to many international events, the world-class botanical gardens and many other aspects that make it a country that has awed the rich and famous. But behind all the beauty of my country are hands that work long hours, sometimes in dangerous situations, to make Singapore possible.

As a tribute to these workers, who range from nurses that save, to gardeners that plant, to laborers who build, these photographs were on display at the Shanghai Cultural Center in 2010 and 2012.

This is a growing body of work, in part also a tribute to Singapore, my home, my heart.
